The RuTAGe Smart Village Centre (RSVC) was inaugurated on 10 September 2024 at Khoont village, Almora, the birthplace of Govind Ballabh Pant. The centre was set up by IIT Roorkee, with collaboration from Nehir Himalayan Sansthan and other local partners.

RuTAGe works to take technologies developed in institutions like IITs and deploy them in rural areas. At the centre, several technologies were demonstrated, such as a solar-assisted Bageshwari wool charkha, a cooled vegetable vending cart, pico-hydro based cold storage, and a mechanised felt-making device.
